COLUMBUS, OH (February 1, 2023) – Pelotonia will celebrate its 15th year of raising funds to accelerate cancer research with enhanced Ride Weekend experiences and a brand-new Gravel Day cycling event in 2023. The inaugural Gravel Day on September 30 will join Pelotonia’s iconic Opening Ceremony on August 4, Ride Weekend on August 5-6, and Impact Celebration in November. Registration for Pelotonia 2023 will open on Wednesday, March 1, at 12 p.m. EST.
With more than $258 million raised for the community’s One Goal to advance innovative cancer research, the 15th year of Pelotonia is one of celebration and continued momentum.
“The Pelotonia community has made a transformational impact on the landscape of cancer treatment, screening, and early diagnosis through its passionate commitment to our One Goal. Today in the United States, there are almost 1.5 million more people surviving and thriving after a cancer diagnosis compared to when Pelotonia was founded 15 years ago. This improved survival rate serves as a testament to the progress we have made while also underscoring the continued need to support the brightest minds and biggest ideas in cancer research,” said Doug Ulman, CEO of Pelotonia.
In honor of Pelotonia’s 15th year, Ride Weekend will be the most vibrant experience to date with enhancements underway for all participants and a full complement of Ride routes. Riders will revisit fan-favorite communities and roads from years past while also cycling new routes designed with community feedback. A few highlights of the 2023 Ride Weekend routes include:
All Saturday, August 5th routes will take Riders through Pickerington for the first time since 2019
The 100-mile route will be re-imagined with multiple opportunities for Riders to choose the level of challenge they take on in the moment!
And, the popular Sunday, August 6th loop will feature an all-new route
Gravel Day, a brand new Pelotonia event named for the increasingly popular style of cycling called gravel riding, offers a new way to participate in Pelotonia that can be more adventurous than traditional road riding. Whether you are an experienced gravel rider or interested in learning a new style of cycling, Gravel Day will extend the hallmark Pelotonia experience in an exciting new way. Gravel Day’s routes will showcase picturesque landscapes and unpaved roads for a breathtaking ride on September 30.
Additional route details and fundraising requirements for both Ride Weekend and Gravel Day will be shared ahead of registration opening on March 1.
Thanks to the generous support of funding partners, 100 percent of every dollar raised by Pelotonia participants is directed to ground-breaking cancer research at
