The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology

The next frontier in cancer research and prevention.

The Pelotonia community pledged $102,265,000 in 2019 to help launch the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Led by inaugural Director Dr. Zihai Li, this research initiative focuses on harnessing the body’s immune system to fight cancer at all levels. In its first year, the PIIO achieved the following milestones:

  • • Established 20 new clinical trials
  • • Obtained $16 million in annual funding from new grants
  • • Assisted in immunotherapeutic studies relating to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • • Published more than 265 peer-reviewed articles
