COLUMBUS, OH (July 29, 2022) – Pelotonia, a non-profit organization that brings communities together to fund innovative cancer research, will host its annual weekend of much-anticipated events on August 5 – 7, 2022. In the past 14 years, the Pelotonia community has achieved great things, including raising and investing nearly $250 million for innovative cancer research.
“The engagement and support of the Pelotonia community continues to be transformational, and the momentum surrounding this year’s Ride Weekend is unmatched,” said Doug Ulman, CEO of Pelotonia. “Our community continues to pursue our ONE GOAL with vigor. We are driven to dramatically increase the number of cancer survivors and end cancer once and for all.”
As in previous years, and with the support of major funding partners, 100 percent of every dollar raised by participants goes to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), including The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology.
"Every day I see first hand the incredible work that is made possible by the fundraising of Pelotonia Riders, Challengers and Volunteers,” said Raphael Pollock, MD, PhD, director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. “As a cancer survivor and a patient of The James, I am inspired by the community’s commitment and grateful to be a part of the Pelotonia movement.”
This year’s Ride Weekend will begin with the Pelotonia Opening Ceremony at McFerson Commons and North Bank Park on Friday, August 5 from 3 until 8 p.m. Pelotonia’s Opening Ceremony will celebrate the fundraising community with live entertainment; inspirational survivorship stories; food and drink; vendors; and much more. The special evening will also feature an exciting program slated to begin at 7 p.m. Registered riders as well as volunteers and challengers raising a minimum of $1,250 by August 4 receive two free tickets to Opening Ceremony.
On August 6 and 7, more than 6,500 riders are expected to tackle routes ranging from 20 to 200 miles. The 2022 Ride Weekend brings one- and two-day route options for riders with the return of overnight stays at Kenyon College for those participating in two-day routes. Pelotonia Ride Weekend is made possible by the 2,500 amazing volunteers who support the ride in roles that range from first aid to bike mechanic to peanut butter and jelly sandwich maker.
Spectators are encouraged to cheer on riders both Saturday and Sunday along all ride routes. Additional information for “Where to Watch” is available at
