By The Pelotonia Team|March 29, 2021

The Pelotonia Team is excited to add Jon Tolbert as our new Director of Creative Marketing. You might recognize Jon from his Tik Tok videos or through a number of the organizations in Columbus that he is involved in. We're excited to have Jon's expertise on the marketing team and know he is going to do amazing things as a member of the Greatest Team Ever!
Get to know Jon a little more through the Q&A below:
Where did you attend college and what did you study?
I attended The University of Toledo where I got my Bachelor of Arts in Cyber Arts and New Media.
What was your role prior to coming to Pelotonia?
I was the Digital Director for the City of Columbus but unofficially known as the Columbus TikTok guy.
What drew you to working at Pelotonia?
What drew me to working at Pelotonia was the community. I’ve never participated in Pelotonia but I’ve always been very aware of it’s mission and its community here in Central Ohio. Having an opportunity to share the community’s stories and make content that raises awareness and/or inspires within and outside of the Pelotonia community is very exciting.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I’m looking forward to meeting the team and learning from them. I’m also looking forward to building relationships with the Pelotonia community and our partners.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
To me, time is the most valuable currency so I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter. When I have free time, I play in soccer leagues, play video games, cook or try new restaurants.
Where are the top 3 places we could expect to see you on any given day (pre-COVID)?
Pre-COVID you would see me at the North Market, Short North, or one of our many great parks.
What’s your favorite piece of advice?
Be open to feedback.  It’s impossible to grow if you don't acknowledge gaps in skillsets and knowledge.
Where’s the first place you’re going to travel to once it’s safe to travel again?
Somewhere with a beach, cold drinks with a perfect sunset view.
If someone were to give you a superlative like they do in high school, what would yours be and why?
Most likely to come up with a good idea.
Excluding Pelotonia, what are your favorite non-profits?
There are so many I connect with! Boys & Girls club, Star House, United Way, Human Service Chamber, Harmony Project, C.R.I.S., and Leadership Columbus to name a few.
And finally, a Pelotonia team favorite… If you were a kitchen appliance or utensil, which would you be? And why?
This is a really good question! I would say I’m a Chef’s knife. It’s versatile and can perform well at many differing tasks, rather than excelling at any one in particular. It needs to stay sharp all the time to perform well in any situation. As a marketer, it’s crucial to be versatile and stay sharp (see what I did there) on trends, apps, etc., so I can help my team reach our goals.
