My Pelotonia Goals:
Hike two Colorado 14’ers in one day
Why are you participating in Pelotonia this year?
I’m participating in Pelotonia this year because of how impactful it has been for me to fundraise and give back to the population that I have worked with over the last 4 years. Despite some drastic changes in my life now that I’m living in Colorado and no longer working as a nurse in oncology, I still felt the need to get out there and help the immuno-compromised patients who are inherently at risk during this time.
How did you choose your Pelotonia goals?
For awhile I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for My Pelotonia, especially since I had just moved in July and was trying to settle down. I was originally thinking of doing a ride through some of the foothills or even mountains in the Denver area, but eventually decided on hiking. Summitting Colorado 14ers is an impressive feat in and of itself, so I knew that completing one hike to summit two 14ers would surely measure up to the legendary status that Pelotonia has been preaching all year.
What was it like completing your goals?
It felt great to accomplish my goal! It was a perfect day spent with new friends, completing a strenuous and challenging adventure. As with all of my Pelotonia Rides so far, this one will be hard to forget.

My Pelotonia Goals:
Ride 79 miles in honor of Granny’s life by Aug 1 and raise over $1,000 for Pelotonia with local fundraisers.
Why are you participating in Pelotonia this year?
Why are you participating in Pelotonia this year?
I was a Volunteer 2 years ago. I have always wanted to ride in Pelotonia and this was the first time I was able to. As a member of NextGen – Young Adult James Ambassadors, it’s a way to show support to the group I work with and get to know everyone better while fundraising for a good cause. The ride was, of course, a different experience this year, but I still wanted to show my support and get those miles in!
How did you choose your Pelotonia goals?
I chose my ride goal to honor my Grandma, who I call Granny, who battled cancer the last few years of her life.. We were very close. She died when she was 79, so I rode 79 miles to symbolize each year of her life.
What it was like completing your goals?
It was very rewarding to accomplish these goals! I honestly was surprised and humbled by the amount of people who donated to my Pelotonia journey. It shows you that many people are affected by cancer and by donating, they also honor their loved ones.

My Pelotonia Goals:
Play as many holes of golf in a single day as possible, while walking. We will start at dawn, and go until we can’t go anymore.
Why are you participating in Pelotonia this year?
I’m participating in Pelotonia because now, more than ever, we need to find a cure to this disease. A lot of people are hurting and adversely affected by the pandemic, so we need those who can to help as much as they can. We cannot simply take a year off from funding research and making discoveries.
How did you choose your Pelotonia goals?
Every year, when I’m training for Pelotonia, riding in the hot sun every weekend, I always think “I wish I was golfing right now.” So this year, I decided to turn the loss of the Ride into an opportunity. I decided I wanted to golf as much as possible, both in training, and then on the day of my event. I really wanted to retain the physical challenge of riding 100 miles, so my friend said “Why don’t we walk the whole time?” So our goal was to golf from dawn to sunset, while walking.
What it was like completing your goals?
It was HARD. We breezed through the first 18 holes in under 3 hours! But by the third 18, I was struggling. I had to switch to a cart after about 45 holes, but my two friends were able to walk all 72 holes! It was also incredibly fun. It was such a good time, playing with my two best friends, and having friends and family rotate the fourth spot throughout the day. We laughed, we joked, we reflected, and we golfed. It was such a success we’re talking about doing it every year and growing the event to something bigger, once it’s safe to include more people.
