Pelotonia To Open Registration for 2022 Ride Weekend

By The Pelotonia Team|March 01, 2022

COLUMBUS, OH (February 28, 2022) – Pelotonia, a non-profit organization that brings a community together to accelerate funding for innovative cancer research, will launch registration on Tuesday, March 1 at 12 p.m. EST for the 2022 Ride Weekend set to take place August 5 – 7. Pelotonia 2022 will return to a beloved past form, complete with a full in-person ride, Opening Ceremony at North Bank Park and overnight stays at Kenyon College for those participating in two-day routes.
The 2022 Ride comes at a pivotal point for cancer research. With President Biden’s recent recommitment to the national Cancer Moonshot program, a renewed energy for cancer research is palpable across the country. Much needed financial support for cancer research, combined with a driven desire to change the outcome for so many people diagnosed with cancer in the future, will result in a massive impact.
“At a moment when the entire world has been so focused on public health and scientific research breakthroughs, it is truly the perfect time to double down on our commitment to ending cancer,” said Doug Ulman, CEO of Pelotonia. “We’ve witnessed the power of scientific research over the last two years. Our 2022 Ride provides the opportunity to continue to fuel similar tangible scientific breakthroughs at The James at Ohio State. It’s the most exciting year possible to get involved in our Ride and our community.”
Dollars raised in 2022 will allow Pelotonia to continue funding innovative cancer research initiatives at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), including critical studies and programs at the OSUCCC – James to promote early cancer detection and prevention. Exams are incredibly important in 2022; screenings for some cancers fell by 90 percent when COVID struck. For those in need of testing, The James Cancer Diagnostic Center can provide expedited access.
Pelotonia recently announced 2022 routes, which include rides from 20 to 200 miles with fundraising commitments starting at $1,250. Overnight stays at Kenyon College have returned and are available for anyone completing the two-day ride options of 164, 182 or 200 miles. For those looking for a one-day ride, routes ranging from 20 – 102 miles are available, including a 38-mile loop ride on Sunday. Interested Riders can sign up at pelotonia.org/register. A wide array of volunteer opportunities are also returning to the 2022 Ride; those interested in volunteering can view a full list of activities and sign up on Pelotonia’s website.
